A fabulous habitat for breeding birds and over wintering moths, the value of the ivy should not be underestimated. Though named the Herb Garden, this garden struggles to produce the same vitality in herbs grown here, as we see elsewhere on the estate. A strong rosemary bush thrives, as does a vigorous bay tree, but the other herbs would enjoy a sunnier spot. Seasonal highlights include the stunning display of lilac bearded irises in May and the delightful scent of the myrtle blossom in mid-Summer. Visitors to this garden may enjoy peaking through a window in the yew hedge to the Butterfly Garden next door.
